From dusk to dawn I sit under the canopy of a pine,
Happily facing a calabash of wine.
The song of subtle rain fills my mind,
For no reason I dream of falling petals.
Trifling matters I while away playing chess,
Happy with a mirror that bears with my decrepit countenance.
The monk next to the brook, immersed in deep thought,
Has sent a letter inviting me to meet him again.
