My secluded dwelling overlooks the imperial viaduct;
Spring is gone, but the summer air is still fresh.
Heaven seems to pity the sequestered blade of grass;
In the human world, we must treasure this evening clearing.
New distance has been added to the view from the tall pavilion;
A little light streaming in brightens the small window.
After the nest of the bird of Yüeh has dried,
It flies home, lighter than ever before.
