SPRING'S rampant in the world!
Its fragrance wafts though sunlit curtains.
Darting sunbeams redden lonely flowers,
Enter her grottoed room to boast their beauty.
Pattern of golden snakes on her dancing-rug,
Zither and flute set out on ornate stands.
Her eyes are drunken with spring dusk,
Her tears yellow from her powder.
A prince arrives, gets off his horse,
On a winding pool, mandarin-ducks start singing.
How can he guess the carriage of her heart
Roaming the whole earth in a single night?
