ARROW plumed with duck-feathers,
Mountain-mulberry bow,
Pointed skywards may bring down
A reed-bearing goose.
In linen clothes, all black and greasy,
I brave the north wind.
Drunk at twilight, I'm still singing
Down in the fields.
Bend my body though I may,
My heart's unyielding.
Success and failure are both uncertain,
Why rail at the Creator?
This bitter wind will bring to life
The willows of spring,
These bare branches suddenly wear
A new, green mist.
