SPARSE cassia blossom under snow,
A crying crow, struck by a bolt, came home.
In a pool by the Pass, shadow of donkey and rider,
His hat and belt hung on the Ch'in wind.
It felt so good to be back home again.
Yet he could only grieve he bore no seal.
The woman he loved asked him no questions—
But in the mirror he glimpsed her falling tears.
