You've taken your boat and gone away, Not yet come home.
Lotus shadow by south shore,
Sad, red petals wilting alone.
Murmer of water, Girdle-jades of the Lady of Hsiang.
Bamboos sobbing, moon over dew-drenched hills.
On a jade zither she plays 'Green Gates',
Hill-clouds drenching yellow arrowroot.
Deer-parsley flowers on sand,
Already blooming in the autumn wind.
Holding a spray, she sweeps fine, silken mats,
Perfume wafting from warm mandarin-ducks.
