BACK from my fishing trip, I leave the boat unmoored;
The moon is down, the quiet city lulls me to sleep.
Even if the night winds do not cease, the boat will drift
Only where the reeds grow and the water is shallow.
MY fishing done, I have retured, but do not moor my boat; At the riverside village the moon will set just as I go to sleep. Even if during the night the wind wafts me away, I shall only teach the shallows where the rushes bloom. |

釣りを終えて船着き場まで戻って来たが、船を岸辺につながず、そのままにしておいた。川べりの村は折しも月が落ち、まさに眠る のにもってこいの頃いだ。もしかりに、今晩大風が吹いて船を吹き流したとしても、あしの穂の咲き乱れる川の浅瀨あたりに漂よっているだけのことだろう。
釣（つ）りを罷（や）め帰（かへ）り来（き）たつて 船（ふね）を繋（つな）がず 江村（かうそん） 月（つき）落（お）ちて 正（まさ）に眠（ねむ）るに堪（た）へたり 縱然（たとひ） 一夜（いちや） 風（かぜ）吹（ふ）き去（さ）るとも 只（た）だ蘆花（ろくわ）淺水（せんすい）の辺（へん）に在（あ）らん 釣りを罷め帰り来たつて 船を繋がず 江村 月落ちて 正に眠るに堪へたり 縱然 一夜 風吹き去るとも 只だ蘆花淺水の辺に在らん |
