I look at the endless expanse of the limpid autumn; A few layers of
mist rise in the horizon. The distant river carries away the clear sky.
A lonely city is blurred by the thick smoke from a thousand hearths.
The wind tears more leaves from the thinning trees; Behind the hills
far away, the sun has just sunk. That single crane is rather late on its
return flight; The forest is already full of roosting crows.
Clear autumn, sight has no bounds; High in the distance piling shadows rise. The farthest waters merge in the sky unsullied; A neglected town hides deep in mist. Sparse leaves, which the wind still sheds, Far hills, where the sun sinks down. How late the solitary crane returns! But the twilight crows already fill the forest. |
