Po, the unrivalled poet,
Who soars alone into the kingdom of imagination,
Yours is the delicacy of Yin,
Yours also Pao's rare freshness.
North of Wei River spring comes through the trees.
Meanwhile you wander beneath the sunset clouds of Chiang-tung.
When shall we buy a cask of wine once more
And argue minutely on versification?
Li po's poetry is unrivaled. His soaring thoughts are unique. His fresh- ness reminds me of Yu Hsin; His delicacy, of Pao Chao. Now as I look upon the spring trees north of the Wei, He is probalby watching the evening clouds east of the Chiang. When can we meet over a port of wine, Again to study and discuss literature? Po, the poet unrivaled, In fancy's realm you soar alone. Yours is the delicacy of Yui, And Pao's rare virility. Now on the north of the Wei River I see the trees under the vernal sky While you wander beneath the sunset clouds Far down in Chiang-tung. When shall we by a cask of wine once more Argue minutely on versification? |

李白よ、あなたの詩は天下に比べるものが無く、闊達自在なその着想は凡俗をはるかに抜きん出ています。
その新鮮なところは梁の庾信に似て、才気に富むところは宋の飽照のようです。
いま私は北方渭水のほとりで、春の樹々を眺めていますが、あなたは江東の地で、日暮れの雲を眺めてでもいることでしょう。
こうして隔たってしまった私たちは、いつまた一樽の酒を酌み交わし、もう一度つぶさに文学を語り合えるようになるのでしょうか。
